Latif Siddiqui slams younger brother Kader Siddiqui for ‘pro-Jamaat’ role

Dhaka, Feb 24 (UNB) – Textiles and Jute Minister Abdul Latif Siddiqui in Parliament on Sunday came down heavily on his younger brother, freedom fighter Kader Siddiqui, for “pro-Jaamat” role.

12-1361715907“Shame, shame, shame on you. I declare in parliament that your armed struggle in 1971 was for your own interest, not for the freedom of the Bengalees as urged by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman,” he said speaking on the thanksgiving motion for President’s address in Parliament.

Latif Siddiqui said the most painful event of his life was Kader Siddiqui’s pro-Jaamat stance. “You said on Diganta TV if you were a Razakar, Bangabandhu was the commander of the Razakars. This is your audacious comment.”

During a late Saturday night talk show on Diganta TV, Kader Siddiqui lamented that the Shahbagh Ganojagaron Mancha had branded him as neo-Razakar. “I took part in the Liberation War under the command of Bangabandhu. If I’m a Razakar, Bangabandhu was the commander of Razakars,” he said.

Minister Latif Siddiqui, without mentioning the name of his younger brother, said: “Your self-exile after Bangabandhu’s murder was for protecting your own life, not for taking revenge of his killers.”
