Dhaka, Feb 24 (UNB) – Textiles and Jute Minister Abdul Latif Siddiqui in Parliament on Sunday came down heavily on his younger brother, freedom fighter Kader Siddiqui, for “pro-Jaamat” role.
Latif Siddiqui said the most painful event of his life was Kader Siddiqui’s pro-Jaamat stance. “You said on Diganta TV if you were a Razakar, Bangabandhu was the commander of the Razakars. This is your audacious comment.”
During a late Saturday night talk show on Diganta TV, Kader Siddiqui lamented that the Shahbagh Ganojagaron Mancha had branded him as neo-Razakar. “I took part in the Liberation War under the command of Bangabandhu. If I’m a Razakar, Bangabandhu was the commander of Razakars,” he said.
Minister Latif Siddiqui, without mentioning the name of his younger brother, said: “Your self-exile after Bangabandhu’s murder was for protecting your own life, not for taking revenge of his killers.”
