He wants Hasina, Khaleda to resolve crisis thru talks
Voicing concern over the country’s ongoing political crisis, Language Movement veteran Abdul Matin on Tuesday said it can be resolved through forming a non-party polls-time neutral administration.
“I think the ongoing political crisis will be over through establishing an election-time non-party government,” he reportedly said in a letter to opposition leader Khaleda Zia.
The Language Movement hero also urged the government and opposition leader to engage in a dialogue immediately for resolving the crisis by forming the polls-time neutral administration, Khaleda’s media wing member Shamsuddin Didar told UNB.
In his letter, Abdul Matin also said, “The country’s citizens are suffering from a sense of extreme insecurity… especially the news of confining opposition leader Khaleda Zia to her residence has increased my worry like any other citizen.”
“The hearsay about Khaleda Zia’s house-interned or confinement will deepen the crisis further and invite a great danger for democracy,” the Language Movement hero observed.
He said the two leaders — Hasina and Khaleda — must take initiatives to resolve the crisis as per the hopes and aspirations of the country’s people.
Meanwhile, former chief election commissioner justice Abdur Rouf, former Dhaka University VC Prof Emajuddin Ahmed, poet Al Mahmud and lawyer Dr Tuhin Malik met Khaleda at night.
