Khaleda should dive into Talpatty: Matia

Refuting Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s claim about the existence of the much-talked-about South Talpatty Island in the Bay of Bengal, agriculture minister Matia Chowdhury on Friday asked BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia to go there along with divers to search for the island.

“We’ll bear all the expenses for taking the divers there. She (Khaleda) can dive with the team to find out what lies there,” she said while addressing a programme marking the distribution of VGF items among the poor and destitute on Gourdwar union parishad premises in Nakla upazila.

Matia also claimed that Bangladesh has won fourth-fifth of the disputed sea area in the verdict on the maritime dispute with India.

She also criticised Khaleda Zia for her ‘appease-India’ policy while in power, saying Khaleda had forgotten to raise the issue of due share of the Ganges during her visit to India as prime minister.
