BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia today invited Awami League President Sheikh Hasina and General Secretary Syed Ashraful Islam to her party’s sixth national council scheduled to be held on March 19.
A four-member delegation led by Abul Khayer Bhuiyan, social welfare secretary of BNP, went to the AL chief’s Dhanmondi office and handed over two invitation cards signed by Khaleda Zia, to AL sub-committee assistant secretary Abdul Awal Shamim.
“On behalf of our party chairperson, we handed over two invitation cards to Abdul Awal around 5:00pm,” Abdul Latif Jony, assistant office secretary of BNP, told The Daily Star.
The council will be held at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh in Dhaka.
BNP will invite leaders of different political parties, socio-cultural personalities, professionals and high-commissioners and ambassadors of different countries including Saarc nations stationed in Dhaka to attend the council, party insiders said.
