Khaleda for politics of welfare, unity

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Tuesday called for a politics of people’s welfare and unity instead of hatred.
“Nothing can be achieved if the politics is not good,” said the leader of the Opposition in parliament while addressing a programme of Bangladesh Babosai Parishad at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in the capital.
She asked the government to act responsibly and try to feel the heart of the mass people of the country.
Assuring the business people of solving their problems, Khaleda said: “Only a few days remain. Good days will come soon.”
“We will call upon the people to resist if the government tries to hold one-sided election,” said the former prime minister.
Khaleda, who heads the BNP-led 18-party opposition alliance, called upon all to get united to protect the voting rights of the people.
She said, “I expect they (govt) will come to the way of consensus….They will not push the country towards conflict.”
She again called for forming Sangram committee at every polling centre to resist the “one-sided election”.
The opposition leader said the ruling AL men looted the state banks in the name of taking loans.
Khaleda criticised the Awami League-led grand alliance government for poor performance in different sectors.
