We’ll focus on making JS effective: Anisul Islam
Water Resources Minister Barrister Anisul Islam Mahmud on Tuesday said Jatiya Party wants the post of Deputy Speaker in the 10th parliament which is set to begin its journey on January 29.
“We’ll demand the post of Deputy Speaker,” he told reporters emerging from the JP parliamentary body committee meeting held at the residence of opposition leader Raushan Ershad in city’s Gulshan area.
Anisul Islam, also a JP presidium member, however, said they would focus on making parliament effective instead of sharing positions in the House.
He also said the JP would contest the constituency of Rangpur given up by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Twenty-seven JP MPs, out of elected 33, were present at the meeting that began at 11am and lasted till 1:30pm.
On Monday, the JP in a media release said party chairman HM Ershad has given responsibility to party secretary general ABM Ruhul Amin Howlader and presidium member GM Quader to act as JP spokespersons.
