Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today said the presence of a large number of journalists at the house of Sagar Sarowar and Meherun Runi destroyed evidence of the killing.
She urged the mediamen to refrain from crowding the crime scenes in the future for the sake of the investigation.
The PM was speaking at a views exchanging meeting with her party leaders from Sylhet district unit at Gono Bhaban.
Sagar Sarowar, news editor of private television channel Maasranga, and his wife Meherun Runi, a senior reporter of another private television channel ATN Bangla, were killed in their West Rajabazar flat on February 11.
The premier appreciated journalists’ agitation demanding arrest and punishment of the killers of Sagar and Runi, saying such programmes will create awareness among the people.
She however termed journalists’ interviews of Mahir Sarowar Megh, son of the journalist couple, as “unexpected”.
Hasina also urged journalists to help the detectives by providing clues and information relating to the murder.
