Journo assaulted by ‘AL men’ on Dhaka court premises
A camera person of a private TV channel was assaulted reportedly by ruling party activists on the premises of a Dhaka court today.
Al Amin, a camera person of DBC News, was attacked by supporters of Gendaria unit Awami League President Enamul Haque Enu and Joint General Secretary Rupon Bhuiyan while covering a report on the duo, reports our Jagannath University correspondent.
The incident took place when Enu and Rupon were produced before the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court for hearing of two separate money laundering cases filed against them.
Al Amin was recording video of Enu and Rupon being taken to the court by law enforcers when some 40-50 supporters of the two leaders assaulted him physically, snatched away Tk 20,000 from his possession and also damaged his camera.
Police detained one Md Matin in connection with the incident and sent him to Kotwali Police Station, while the others managed to flee, said Court Inspector Moinul Islam.
Filing of a case in this connection was underway, said Liton Mahmud, a reporter of the private TV channel.
Enu and Rupon were accused in seven cases including four cases filed over money laundering.
On January 14, they were placed on four-day remand each by a Dhaka court in the two Money Laundering cases.
