Leader of the opposition in the parliament Raushan Ershad has called upon the former Jatiya Party leaders, who quit the party earlier, to join it again in order to “regain its lost pride.”
Addressing a press briefing at the media centre of the parliament on Sunday, JaPa presidium member Raushan said: “Jatiya Party has lost its pride, honour and glory. I want the leaders, who left it earlier or became inactive, to return. We are eagerly waiting for them.”
She said: “I do not have any personal demand. I just want to avert any lack of coordination among the party members.
“We were not able to formulate any specific political strategy which would attract new leaders. So, we will welcome the leaders, who became inactive or quit us.”
Recalling the contribution of former JaPa leaders, she said: “Once upon a time, the JaPa chief was always surrounded by a number of dedicated leaders like Mr Moudud, Shah Moazzem, Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury and Anwar Hossain Monju.
“But right now nobody knows who are behind Ershad.”
She called upon her husband and also the President of the Jatiya Party, HM Ershad, to follow democratic procedures in taking decisions within the party.
Addressing Ershad, a special envoy to Prime Minister Shiekh Hasina, Raushan said: “All decisions in party matters should have been taken as per the party charter as the Jatiya Party is not a personal property.
“So, I am requesting the party chief to be democratic while taking decisions.”
