Newly appointed Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Masato Watanabe met BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia on Saturday night.
The hour-long meeting that began around 8:20pm was held at Khaleda’s Gulshan political office, her media wing member Sayrul Kabir Khan said.
BNP chairperson’s advisers Reaz Rahman and Sabihuddin Ahmed were present at the meeting.
However, there was no briefing from either side about the meeting.
Sayrul said various issues relating to the mutual interests of the two nations and Bangladesh’s latest political situation came up for discussions at the meeting.
