Jamaat, Al Qaeda, Taliban birds of same feather: Ashraf

Branding Jamaat-e-Islami, Al Qaeda and Taliban as birds of the same feather, Awami League general secretary Syed Ashraful Islam on Monday called upon people to resist the evil forces wherever found as they are the enemies of humanity.

He came up with the observations while addressing the inaugural ceremony of the launching of a video documentary, titled ‘Destructive events of BNP-Jamaat, Blood-stained Bangladesh: A saga of BNP-Jamaat terrorism against the people of the country’.

Awami League organised the function at the Jatiya Press Club.

Recalling the 1971 atrocities perpetrated by Jamaat and its student wing Islami Chhatra Sangha in besieged Bangladesh, Syed Ashraf, also the LGRD Minister, said it carried out the identical operations in the country over the January-5 general election.

Urging people from all strata of life to join the war against terrorism, the Awami League leader said no one can avoid it on the pretext of neutrality.

Chaired by Awami League publicity and publication secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud, the function was addressed, among others, by ICT prosecutor Dr Tureen Afroz, former secretary of Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) SM Rezaul Karim and Journalist Manjurul Ahsan Bulbul.
