Jaishankar sends message to Bangladesh
India’s newly appointed foreign minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar has said that India wants to take their partnership with Bangladesh to the goal as determined by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. He said that relations between the two close neighbours, Bangladesh and India, had deepened further.
The Indian foreign minister made these observations in a recent letter to Bangladesh’s foreign minister AK Abdul Momen. In the letter dated 4 June, S Jaishankar wrote that the deepening ties between the two countries had been possible due to the wide and farsighted leadership of Bangladesh’s prime minister Sheikh Hasina and India’s prime minister Narendra Modi.
India’s foreign minister also said the Awami League-led government was recently formed in Bangladesh with the massive support of the people. Last month the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance had also formed the government in India with huge public support. These two events reflected the support of the people of both countries for strong coalitions.
S Jaishankar expressed said he hoped to visit Bangladesh very soon.
