Ivy: Shamim Osman is the biggest liar of all time

Narayanganj City Corporation Mayor Dr Selina Hayat Ivy said Shamim Osman was the “greatest liar of all time.”

Ivy made the remarks while attending a programme of City Corporation’s budget announcement on Monday.

Refuting Shamim Osman’s allegations against her that the gas crisis in the city was not being solved due to Ivy’s non-cooperation, she said: “Shamim Osman is the biggest liar of all time as he uttered such a baseless word against me.”

Earlier on Sunday, Shamim Osman, Awami League lawmaker for Narayanganj 4 (Fatulla- Siddhirganj), while addressing an Iftar party at Narayanganj Press Club, said the gas crisis in the city was not being solved due to Mayor Ivy’s non-cooperation.

In response, Ivy said: “A true human being cannot tell such a big lie publicly in an Iftar party in the holy month of Ramadan.”

Ivy alleged that apart from telling lies, Shamim could only involve himself in committing crimes like murder, extortion, tender manipulation and control over the garment’s left-out.

She said in the context of increased demand for gas in Narayanganj, when Titas Gas sought permission for cutting road to set up the thick diameter pipe lines from Panchbatti to Siddhirganj, the City Corporation approved their application in time.

“Petrobangla Chairman inaugurated the work last year.”

Ivy said: “Later, the owner of a re-rolling mill in Siddhirganj, who is well-known for his close relationship with Shamim, filed a case with the High Court against the Titas that halted the installation of the pipeline.”

She further said as the local land office did not have the papers of acquisition of land of the Titas, the crisis has been created.
