The chief minister of Indian state Jharkhand, Hemant Soren, on Sunday expressed his intent to buy Remdesivir, a medicine now used for treating Covid patients, from Bangladesh, according to a tweet of Soren.
‘With the increasing demand for Remdesivir for critical patients in Jharkhand [and] its unavailability [in India], we have reached out to pharmaceutical companies in Bangladesh for buying around 50,000 vials for emergency use,’ he said in a tweet Sunday night.
He stated that he also wrote to Indian union minister for chemicals and fertilisers DV Sadanand Gowda seeking permission to import Remdesivir.In the letter dated April 18, he stated intent to buy 50,000 vials Demisivir IV injection (brand name of Remdesivir) produced by Beximco Pharma of Bangladesh at a cost of $1 million.
