Immigration officials at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittagong have refused 40 passengers to go abroad for alleged inconsistency in the information provided in their passports and visa documents.

Shah Amanat Airport manager wing commander Nur-e-Alam has told the Dhaka Tribune on Sunday.

Alam said: “Some 40 passengers have been refused to go abroad as there was no consistency in the information provided in their passports and visa documents.”

However, some of the passengers have also been suspected as Rohingyas, he said.

The passengers were set to fly on two planes, one of Fly Dubai and another of Oman Airlines, he added.

He further said, after examining the documents and papers, the airport official claimed that the passengers had planned to go to Libya via Sudan.

Assistant Deputy Commissioner (Immigration) Mizanur Rahman of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) has also confirmed about the refusal matter of the passengers to Dhaka Tribune.
