ICC president Mustafa Kamal resigned after landing to Bangladesh on Wednesday.
He said it was impossible to work with people who do not go by rules and constitution of the organization.
‘I resign to let the whole world know what was the truth…’ he said.
‘I don’t want to retain ICC presidency ignoring (the spirit of) my country people…’, he said, adding, such manipulation in the world cricket was done for the first time.
He also came down heavily on ICC chairman Sri Nibashan who told him that he (Mustafa Kamal) was not going to hand over the World Cup champion trophy to the winner Australia team, until he begged apology for comments he had earlier made.
‘They have gone mad,’ he spoke about Sri Nibashan without citing his name.
He said all the people in the gallery disagreed with the decision of not allowing him to distribute World Cup champion trophy.
‘The audience shouted Boo…Boo…disavowing ICC decision,’ he said.
Kamal has been involved with cricket and its development for last 30 years in various capacities. From 1990-2010 he was chairman of the cricket committee of Abahani Limited, before becoming the President of Asian Cricket Council between 2010 and 2012. He was also the Chairman of Audit Committee of International Cricket Council.
In 2012 Kamal was named as the vice-president of the International Cricket Council (ICC) for the 2012-2014 term. Prior to his nomination for the ICC, Kamal was the president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board. Kamal succeeded Alan Isaac as president of the ICC in 2014.
