Huda has made the remarks while addressing a discussion at the office of the newly formed party
Bangladesh National Allaince Chairman Nazmul Huda has said the BNP-led 19-party alliance gave legitimacy to the January 5 elections as they boycotted the election.
He said: “It is illogical to boycott the election apprehending vote rigging. Crores of voters were ready to cast their votes for the BNP. By boycotting the election, BNP-led 19-party alliance deprived crores of voters to cast their votes.”
“BNP created an empty ground and Awami League-led grand alliance just properly used the empty ground,” Huda added.
Huda, also a former BNP leader, made the remarks while addressing a discussion at the office of the newly formed party on Friday.
He said: “Therefore, the BNP-led 19-party alliance has no right to raise question about the legitimacy of January 5 election.”
“This is the high time to bring necessary changes in the election commission for holding free and fair elections. The BNP has to create ground for holding a credible election waging constructive and non-violent movement in a systematic manner.”
