How can people support BNP: PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Friday wondered how people can support BNP and vote for them although BNP-Jamaat burned hundreds of people in the name of hartal and blockade.

The Prime Minister made the remarks while delivering speech at the celebration of 154th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore at Shahzadpur Pilot High School Ground.

“Khaleda Zia and BNP-Jamaat burned hundreds of people to death in the name of hartal and blockade and I do not understand how some could vote for them,” she said.

The Prime Minister laid the Foundation stone of the university from Shahzadpur Pilot High School Ground fulfilling the long-cherished demand of the people of this region.

The Rabindra University is expected to play a very significant role in promoting research and practice on Bangla Literature and works of Rabindranath as well as expanding higher education in the region.

The people of Shahzadpur had staged several demonstrations in the past, including rallies, processions and human chains, to realize their long-standing demand for setting up Rabindra University in Shahzadpur.

To fulfill their demand, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in a meeting at Sirajganj University College ground earlier had pledged to establish the university.

Now, to fulfill her promise, the Prime Minister decided on laying the foundation stone of Rabindra University in Shahzadpur on Pachishey Baishakh, the 154th birth anniversary of the Nobel Laureate poet.

From the same venue, she also inaugurated the Regional Passport Office, Sirajganj, upgradation of Sirajganj 150MW gas turbine power plant to 225 MW combined cycle one, Institute of Marine Technology, District Registers Office and Sheikh Russell Poura Children’s Park, Sirajganj.

Health Minister Mohammad Nasim, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid, PM’s Political Affairs Adviser HT Imam Local MP Hasibur Rahman Swapon among others, spoke on the occasion as special guests.

  1. This lady should answer how she abducted the opposition politicians and they disappeared from the earth. She is complicit with the murders of the news reporters who dared to write otherwise. She has anchored her faith with Delhi and does not realize, any day, it may be her turn. She has destroyed democracy by decimating the opposition as much as Sheikh Mujib did the same. This dynasty want to rule as dictators without any opposition as they hate anyone opposed to their whims.
