Hasina’s immovable assets up by 26.5 times

The immovable assets of prime minister Sheikh Hasina have increased by 26.59 times over the past 15 years, while her annual income has risen over  three-fold during the same period.

According to the latest affidavit submitted with the nomination papers for the January 7 national polls, the immovable assets of Sheikh Hasina have increased from Tk 1.75 lakh in 2008 to Tk 46.54 lakh in 2023.

In the 2008 document, Sheikh Hasina showed 4 acres of agricultural land valued at Tk 1.75 lakh, while the latest affidavit reveals an increase in her agricultural land property to 15.3 bigha worth Tk 6.78 lakh, a plot in Purbachal valued at Tk 34.76 lakh, and a three-storey building worth Tk 5 lakh.

Sheikh Hasina, also the president of the ruling Awami League, showed an increase in annual income from Tk 29.77 lakh in 2008 to Tk 1.06 crore now.

The prime minister for three consecutive times, Hasina, an AL candidate for the Gopalganj-3 constituency, earns Tk 9.46 lakh from agriculture, an increase from Tk 4.50 lakh in 2008, Tk 25 lakh from shares, savings certificates and bank deposits, Tk 16.38 lakh from her job, Tk 32.25 lakh from Fixed Deposit Receipts (FDR) and bank interest, and Tk 23 lakh from royalties.

 

 

Despite the amount of her cash and bank deposits has decreased, her movable assets have somewhat increased from Tk 3.46 crore in 2008 to Tk 3.87 crore this time.

In 2008, she had Tk 1.50 lakh in cash, which has now decreased to Tk 28.5 thousand. Her deposits worth Tk 3.18 crore in banks and financial institutions in 2008 have decreased to Tk 2.38 crore.

In 2008, she had vehicles worth Tk 6 lakh, while currently, she owns three vehicles, with two valued at Tk 47.50 lakh and the value of the third one, which came as a gift, has not been mentioned.

The prime minister owns furniture worth Tk 7.40 lakh. She does not own any electric appliances or foreign currency as per the documents submitted with her nomination for the 12th parliamentary polls.
