Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will be meeting her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi in Goa on October 16, where they are likely to decide their attendance in the upcoming Saarc Summit in Islamabad in November.

Following recent tensions between India and Pakistan, there is still uncertainty over which countries will be attending the summit.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will visit India on October 15 to attend an outreach meeting at the 8th BRICS Summit to be held in Goa from October 15-16.

At the BRICS summit, the two Prime Ministers (Hasina and Modi) might be discussing their attendance at the forthcoming Saarc Summit in Islamabad.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is yet to take any final decision over her participation in the upcoming South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (Saarc) amid reports that she might not be attending it this year.

She has already written to Modi that “In line with its ‘zero tolerance’ policy against terrorism and violent extremism, Bangladesh firmly stands beside India at this difficult hour.”

Bangladesh and India will continue to work together in their “common endeavour” to eradicate cross-border terrorism, sources said.
