Hasina is following in Hitler’s footsteps: Khaleda

“Hasina is a neo-Hitler. She is running the country following in Hitler’s footsteps,” Khaleda told a rally in Natore on Saturday.

She said her party could not let such a situation continue.

When she asked her supporters whether they were ready to join her for an anti-government agitation, they said “yes” in unison.

“Peace and good governance will be restored if this Satan and neo-Hitler is ousted,” the former Prime Minister said.

Khaleda exhorted her supporters to prepare for an all-out demonstration claiming the government had become isolated.

“This movement aims at restoring democracy and giving back people their voting rights,” she said adding that she had no desire to become the Prime Minister.

She criticised the government during her hour-long speech and outlined what her party would do if it returned to power.

Saturday’s rally was Khaleda’s sixth – first in Natore since 2008 – outside Dhaka since the January 5 polls that BNP and allies had boycotted.

Since then, her party has been demanding early polls supervised by a neutral government.

Thousands from Natore and surrounding areas thronged the rally venue at Nawab Sirajuddoula College grounds sporting placards, festoons and posters of Khaleda, her husband Ziaur Rahman and son Tarique Rahman.

“I’ll make the call [for demonstration] when the time is right,” the BNP chief told the gathering.

“You must observe whatever programme I announce,” she said.
