BNP leader Tariqul Islam on Friday threatened to announce tougher programmes if the government create any obstacles to December 26 mass contact campaign conducted by BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.
“We will declare tougher programmes if the government creates any obstacles to the party chairperson’s campaign in the capital,” Tariqul told reporters at a press briefing at the party’s Nayapaltan central office in the evening.
Replying to a query about tougher programmes, Tariqul, also a BNP standing committee member, said three to five days hartals may be announced, reports Bangla daily Prothom Alo.
“We will announce democratic programmes,” he informed.
Khaleda Zia will conduct a mass contact campaign in the capital on the day to drum up public support for the restoration of the caretaker government system.
During the daylong campaign, she will address a few roadside rallies at different areas of the capital.
