The Government on Monday rejected a media report on disrupting food and water supply to the residence of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.
“The news over disrupting food and water supply to opposition leader Khaleda Zia’s residence published in some newspapers, including the Daily Inqilab, is false, fabricated, ill-motivated and confusing. Nothing like this happened at all,” said a handout of Press Information Department (PID).
It said Dhaka Wasa (Water Supply and Sewerage Authority) has already protested the media report and said neither the water connection was snapped nor was the water supply to her residence disrupted.
“The statement given by BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi over the matter at a press conference at BNP central office at Nayapaltan on Sunday evening is fully baseless,” it said.
“It was clarified on behalf of the Government that food and water supply were not disrupted to her residence. Besides, some media are circulating that the BNP Chairperson is under house arrest, it is not true either. The opposition leader is meeting with her party leaders and people of different professions and classes,” it said.
The government urged the concerned to refrain from publishing such false and fabricated news, it added.
