The government will resume open market sale of rice at Tk 15 a kilogram in Dhaka, Chittagong and Khulna in a week.
Food minister Qamrul Islam informed this after a meeting with rice millers at his office.
He said the decision was take in the wake of a sudden rise in the prices of the staple.
He also found the rise of price as an artificial crisis and blamed certain quarters who are unhappy at the government’s decision of procuring paddy. He also said that those who import low quality rice from India at cheaper price are also unhappy with the government’s decision.
