Finance Minister AMA Muhith on Wednesday said the government will continue its support to creative activities, aiming to accelerate the country’s development.
“We’ve to keep opportunities to do creative works. There’s a plenty of pearl (creative works) but I may not be informed about,” he told a seminar at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre here in the afternoon.
Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) organised the seminar, titled ‘Enrich, A New Approach to Development: A Paradigm Shift’ in observance of its 25th anniversary.
Speaking on the occasion as the chief guest, Muhith said: “If we promote creative works, the country will get developed further.”
He said the creativity has occupied a huge space in the country’s greatness it achieves at this moment. “We used to hear that this land (Bangladesh) was fertile for communism as most people here are poor, but communism didn’t flourish here as creativity never faced any impediment.”
About PKSF activities, he said it was established to help institutions that worked on micro-credit. “But, the nature of PKSF has already changed. It’s now working in all sectors like micro-financing, health, environment, education and infrastructure. Its main objective is to help people lead a better life.”
On the role of micro-credit, Muhith said, “Microcredit cannot do it all… other components like education and health also play strong role in removing poverty.”
PKSF chairman Dr Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad and Governance Advocacy Forum coordinator Mohsin Ali, among others, spoke at the seminar.
