The government on Monday signed a Tk 26 crore deal with consulting firms for constructing the ‘Payra Bridge’ over Payra River on the Barisal-Patuakhali highway.
Roads and Highways Department (RHD) chief engineer Aninur Rahman Laskar signed the deal on behalf of the government while president of Intercontinental Consultants & Technocrats Pvt. Ltd of India Prashant Kapila, vice president of Kunhwa Consulting and Engineering Company Ltd of South Korea Choi Gang II, chairman and managing director of Dr Nabeel Abdul Raheem Consultants of Kuwait Dr Nabeel Abdul Raheem and associate director of Engineering and Planning Consultants Ltd of Bangladesh Gazi A Rahmani signed for their organization.
Communications Minister Obaidul Quader was present at the signing ceremony held at the Communications Ministry.
The estimated cost of the 1,470 meter-long bridge is Tk 413.29 crore. Of the total amount, the international donors will provide Tk 336.26 crore as project assistance whiled the remaining Tk 77.26 crore will be financed by the government.
