The government is planning to establish toll offices on four national highways and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina asked the relevant ministry to think about taking measures in this regard, Planning Minister MA Mannan said today.
The toll offices will be established on Dhaka-Rangpur, Dhaka-Sylhet, Dhaka-Khulna and Dhaka-Chattogram highways, the minister told reporters at a briefing after the weekly meeting of Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec).
The Ecnec today approved 10 projects involving a total estimated cost of Tk 6,326 crore, including Tk 1,630 crore to set up axle load control centres on important highways.
It also approved a Tk 174 crore project to establish centres to test the purity of water all over the country, which will be implemented from July 2019 to June 2022.
Another project worth Tk 793 crore was also passed for the maintenance of the Dhaka-Chattogram four-lane highway.
