A girl has been raped at Dhaka Medical College Hospital amid reports of a series of sexual attacks.
Six members of the Ansar, in charge of law enforcement at Bangladesh’s premier public hospital, have been accused of the crime.
The victim’s family from Comilla’s Homna was at the Shahbagh Police Station to start a case on Wednesday.
The case was being processed, Shahbagh OC Abu Bakar Siddik told bdnews24.com.
The victim is mentally ill, her brother told reporters at DMCH.
She leaves home from time to time only to return. She was away again when her family received a call from the DMCH informing them about the rape, he said.
The girl was violated at the outdoor section of the hospital’s radiology department on the night of Oct 27, her family said.
The six Ansar men they accused are APC ‘Ekramul’, ‘Anisul’, ‘Atikul’, ‘Shiraj’, ‘Babul’ and ‘Minhaz’.
“They resigned from duty on Oct 27. We don’t know where they are now,” Ansar’s Dhaka District Commandant Saifullah Rasel told bdnews24.com.
One Stop Crisis Centre (OCC) Coordinator Dr Bilkis Begum said she has treated the victim.
