Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif has expressed satisfaction over the trial of former Jamaat-e-Islami chief Ghulam Azam.
Ghulam Azam was handed 90-year jail on Monday for his role in the murder and genocide of the independence-seeking people of the land who were fighting occupation Pakistani army in 1971.
“People’s expectation was capital punishment,” Hanif told media on Monday in his immediate reaction to the verdict of the high-profile Jamaat leader.
He was talking to the media at AL chief Sheikh Hasina’s political office in Dhanmondi of the capital.
