MA Mannan, the BNP chairperson’s adviser, presented the manifesto at a community centre in the city.
Announcing his pledge to turn GCC into a modern city, Mannan said if elected mayor, he will form a ‘consultative committee’ comprising experienced persons after taking suggestions of people of all classes.
“Short, mid and long terms plans will be adopted as per the proposals of the consultative committee. Gazipur will be transformed into a modern city through implementing the plans,” Mannan said.
The BNP-blessed mayoral runner also promised to work for the development of the city’s education, to ensure better healthcare for all, to free the city from terrorism and drug and improve law and order situation.
The manifesto includes easing traffic congestion in the city, improving road communication and drainage system, resolving water-logging, ensuring smooth supply of gas, water and power and constructing an international-standard stadium.
BNP central leaders ASM Hannan Shah, Amanullah Aman, Gazipur district unit BNP president Fazlul Haque Milon and 18-party leaders, among others, were present.
Seven candidates are vying for the post of mayor in the GCC election which goes to polls on July 6.
