Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali has ‘lied’ over Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s meeting with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon in New York, the BNP has alleged.
Party’s Vice-Chairman Shamser Mobin Chowdhury made the claim at a media call on Friday, hours after Hasina’s press conference on her US visit.
Hasina was in the US from Sept 22 to Sept 28 to attend the 69th UN General Assembly.
At a press briefing at her residence, Hasina said she had bilateral meetings with UN and Commonwealth chiefs apart from some heads of state and government .
BNP leader Chowdhury claimed the news of Hasina-Ban meeting was ‘incorrect’.
He referred to the UN secretary general’s official itinerary which scheduled Hasina’s ‘photo opportunity’ with him on Saturday morning.
“This makes it clear that the foreign minister lied as he had done in the past,” the former foreign secretary claimed.
