The first batch of Bangladeshi hajjis returned home from Saudi Arabia as the return hajj flights of Biman Bangladesh Airlines Ltd began on Thursday.
The first Biman flight, ‘BG-2012’, carrying 416 Bangladeshi hajjis landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 2:30pm, said a Biman press release.
Biman managing director AM Mosaddique Ahmed and chairman of Civil Aviation Authority, Bangladesh Air Vice-Marshal Mahmud Hossain received the hajjis at the airport.
Meanwhile, more Bangladeshi hajjis were scheduled to return home on Thursday by three dedicated flights and a regular one.
The national flag carrier will operate a total of 134 flights to carry back home 50 percent Bangladeshi hajjis. The return hajj flight will end on November 8.
This year, the hajj flights of Biman Bangladesh Airlines Ltd began on August 27 and continued till September 28.
Meanwhile, Bangladeshi hajjis will now be allowed to carry maximum 47kg of goods on the return flights of Biman Bangladesh Airlines from Saudi Arabia.
According to a new decision of the government, each hajji will be eligible to carry maximum 40 kg in checked baggage while rest 7 kg in hand-held baggage.
