Rescuers on Friday recovered a firearm from the part of the Rana Plaza rubble that had once been the office of the building’s owner Sohel Rana.
A pistol and five rounds of bullet were recovered early Friday from the Rana’s office location, said Shaheen Parvez, a Detectives Branch (DB) inspector.
The recovery comes nine days after the collapse of the nine-storey building, which housed five garment factories, killing over 500 people and injuring scores.
Rana, a leader of the ruling Awami League’s youth wing, who was arrested by Rab following the collapse, however, said the firearm he had possessed was a licensed one.
However, police sources have so far found no clue in support of Rana’s claim, added Shaheen.
