BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s family today (September 11, 2022) applied to the government seeking further extension of her jail sentence suspension.
“I have received an application from her (Khaleda Zia) family (for extension of the suspension of her jail sentence). The relevant process regarding the application is now underway,” Home Minister Aasaduzzaman Khan Kamal told The Daily Star.
It is not that the suspension of jail sentence (of Khaleda) will be automatically extended following the application as there are some procedures with this matter, the home minister added.
The file will go to the prime minister’s office for Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s opinion and then a final decision will be taken on this issue.
