Fakhrul granted bail in a case, denied in another

 

A court here on Thursday granted bail to BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in a murder case filed with Shahbagh police station but denied his bail plea in another murder case filed with Ramna police station.

 

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate M Zahurul Haque passed the order after a hearing on the plea for Fakhrul’s bail.

 

Advocate Sanaullah Mian and Advocate Zainul Abedin Mezbah submitted the bail petition on behalf of the BNP leader.

 

Earlier on March 27, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rezaul Karim sent  Mirza Fakhrul to jail rejecting his bail plea.

 

On November 30 last year, a case was filed against 50-60 unidentified persons with Ramna police station in connection with the killing of one Habibur Rahman in a petrol-bomb attack on a bus on the VIP road at Malibagh.

 

On November 28 last year, another case was filed against 50-60 unidentified persons with Shahbagh police station in connection with the killing of a pedestrian as a bus crashed on the road island in front of the Shishu Park following a petrol bomb attack on the bus.

 

Although Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir’s name was not included in the FIR of both the cases, his name was mentioned as an instigator to the incidents.

 

On Mar 16, Fakhrul was sent to jail after he surrendered to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court.
