BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has emphasised the need for national unity and dialogue to resolve the issue of the election roadmap.
“We have always believed that a new Bangladesh will be created through dialogue and unity. I am confident that this unity will be achieved, and we will succeed,” he said while talking to reporters at Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport upon his return from a medical check-up abroad this afternoon (14 April).
Fakhrul also addressed speculation over a possible shift in the election timeline from December, saying, “This issue too will be resolved.”
BNP delegation to meet CA Yunus on 16 April to discuss election, reform issues
A BNP delegation is scheduled to meet Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus on 16 April, following the party’s request for a discussion regarding the upcoming national election and reforms.
The meeting will take place at the Chief Adviser’s official residence, State Guest House Jamuna, at 12:00 noon.
BNP leaders said their delegation would send a clear message to the chief adviser that the BNP will not accept any attempt by the government to extend its power unnecessarily until June next year.
