Left-arm spinner Tanvir Islam returned career-best T20 figures to help his side Shinepukur Cricket Club beat an experienced Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club by 10 runs in their Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Division T20 League encounter at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur today.
Shinepukur, led by young Towhid Hridoy, were able to put up a competitive 137 for five in a slow Mirpur pitch after electing to bat.

Following the exchange, Sheikh Jamal, boasting experienced players like Mohammad Ashraful, Nasir Hossain, Elias Sunny, Nurul Hasan in their ranks, were bundled out for 127 in 19.5 overs.
After young spinner Hasan Murad removed Ashraful (4 off 2) in the very first over, left armer Tanvir had Shykat Ali stumped in the very next over to leave Sheikh Jamal reeling at 13 for two. Nasir and Elias, who was promoted up the batting order, then stitched together a 58-run stand for the third wicket to restore some stability.
However, Nasir fell prey to Iftekhar Sajjad in the ninth over before Tanvir removed skipper Nurul Hasan and Tanbir Haydar in the same over to dent Sheikh Jamal’s hopes. Sheikh Jamal never bounced back and eventually fell short on the day.
Tanvir ended up with career-best T20 figures of three for eight in his four overs that featured two maidens.
