A Dhaka court today placed former BNP lawmaker Dewan Mohammad Salauddin and Municipality Mayor Mohammad Refat Ullah each on a 10-day remand in two cases filed for keeping firearms and explosives illegally.
Senior Judicial Magistrate Syed Siraj Jinnat passed the order after Savar police produced them before the court with a 20-day remand prayer in two cases.
Earlier police in separate drives arrested them on sabotage charges today, adds UNB.
The news agency reports that doctor Dewan Mohammad Salauddin, also vice-president of Dhaka district BNP, was a lawmaker of Dhaka-13.

He was accused in several sabotage cases in Savar and Ashulia police stations and was absconding, the SI added.
On the other hand, a team from Savar Model Police Station arrested Mayor Mohammad Refat Ullah from his Kornopara residence in the early hours of today.
Police said Refat Ullah, also the BNP president of the municipality unit, is accused in several cases filed with Savar and Ashulia police stations.
FAKHRUL BLASTS GOVT FOR ARRESTING BNP MEN
BNP acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today said the government is arresting his party activists and implicating them with fabricated cases in a bid to hide its failure to control the country’s law and order.
“The government wants to shift people’s attention from the failures through arresting BNP leaders and activists, implication them with fabricated cases,” the senior BNP leader said in a statement this afternoon.
He also blasted the government for snatching BNP men’s rights to justice and added it is being done with a “politics of vengeance”. “They want to create a panic so that the BNP leaders and activists cannot carry out their political activities.”
Fakhrul also held the government responsible for the country’s “jeopardised” situation and said the law enforcement agencies have been let loose on the opposition party men instead of using them to keep law and order.
The BNP leader came up with the statement after police in separate drives arrested Savar’s former BNP lawmaker Dewan Mohammad Salauddin and Municipality Mayor Mohammad Refat Ullah on sabotage charges today.
