Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad and opposition leader Raushon Ershad had a meeting with diplomats of various countries stationed in Dhaka on Saturday and reportedly discussed the country’s current political situation.
A JaPa source said the diplomats were invited to dinner at a city hotel where they discussed various issues, including the present political impasse.
Ambassador of the European Union (EU) Delegation to Bangladesh Pierre Mayaudon and diplomats from over two dozens countries, including India, the USA, the UK, Russia, South Korea, Malaysia, Egypt, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Nepal, Bhutan, Pakistan, Sweden, Norway, Switzerland, Canada, Vietnam, Morocco, Myanmar and Oman were present.
Raushon Ershad reportedly explained her party position and on which context the January-5 election was held.
She also said they are always in favour of democracy and working to strengthen it in the country.
“Bangladeshi people are peace-loving ones,” the opposition leader said seeking support from all, including the international community, at this stage.
After the event, Ershad talked to reporters and said the diplomats expressed concern over the current political situation.
Responding to a question, he said what they can do other than expressing concern. “We ourselves have to find out the solution, not the outsiders.”
