Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad has stated that he does not want any personal facilities as the special envoy of the prime minister.

The former president of the country made the remark in a statement issued on Thursday evening.

“I do not need a government issued residence and vehicle. I want to discharge my duties with the facilities I am getting as an MP,” said Ershad.

He also thanked Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for appointing him as her special envoy.

“We have to move forward leaving behind the disgraceful events of the past. The prime minister has taken me along for the journey. I will try my best to uphold that honour,” he said.

Ershad said he would try to work wholeheartedly to uphold the country’s image.

“I want to place the democratic mentality and liberal outlook of the people of Bangladesh to the world,” he said.

The Jatiya Party chairman asserted that his objective is only to serve the country and its people.
