Friday, Ektara Florida, a non-profit cultural organisation felicitated five Bangladesh cricketers at Sunrise Civic Centre in Florida on the eve of their second and penultimate T20I against the West Indies, to be played at Lauderhill Cricket Stadium in the USA Sunday.

Titled “Ektara Presents Meet And Greet With The Cricket Icons”, the programme was graced by Test and T20I captain Shakib al Hasan, opener Tamim Iqbal, wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim, all-rounder Mahmudullah and youngster Mehedi Hasan Miraz.

President of EF, Rubaiya Mamun, CEO Imran Jony and organising secretary Dipu Zaman co-ordinated the entire programme.

Hosted by Kazi Falguni, the lively event was packed with a humorous question and answer session with the cricketers, followed by a photo session with the guests.

Mohammad Ziauddin, Bangladesh Ambassador to the USA, was the chief guest at the programme and distributed crests among the players.

While talking with this correspondent, Imran said, “We are the first event organiser in the USA to successfully hold such kind of meet and greet event with the national cricketers in North America on regular basis. Keeping up with this trend, we tried to entertain the Bangladeshi diaspora, who rarely get the opportunity to meet with these cricketers. They had an unforgettable night with these five celebrated Bangladesh cricketers before the important T20I [Sunday]. I think this event gave the cricketers an opportunity to interact with the fans and answer their questions directly.”

While answering many hilarious questions by the fans, all the cricketers were unanimous when asked about their chances in the series.

The Tigers hoped they would bounce back in the second T20I and level the series, thus giving the Bangladeshi American cricket fans something to cheer about.
