Bangladesh has been lagging behind in developing of E-Governance among the SAARC countries, according to the latest E-Government Development Index.
However, the index prepared by the UN agency UNPACS (United Nations Public Administration Country Studies) shows that Bangladesh has moved two steps forward in the world ranking.
According to the UNPACS survey 2014, Bangladesh ranked fifth in the SAARC.
In 2014 survey, Bangladesh was outstripped by Bhutan in SAARC region. However, it moved two steps forward and ranked 148 in the world list.
In 2012 survey, Bangladesh had ranked 150 in world list and fourth among the SAARC countries.
Bhutan has taken the fourth position in the latest UNPACS survey which is published in every two years. Bhutan, ranked 152 in 2012 survey, has managed to move 9 steps up in 2014 Index.
Sri Lanka (74), outstripping Maldives (94), has topped the 2014 Index.
The sruvey was conducted in 193 UN Member States out of which only 46 Member States have dedicated data portals.
