Deutsche Welle (DW), a German broadcast station, will produce new science and technology show in Bangla from April 13 (Saturday) to be telecast on Ekushey TV for Bangladesh.
The announcement came from a press conference at Sonargaon Hotel in the city on Wednesday.
German Ambassador in Dhaka Dr Albrecht Conze, DW Distribution Executive for South Asia Tobias Grote-Beverborg, DW Bangla chief Debarati Guha and Ekushey TV chairman Abdus Salam were, among others, present at the press conference.
“We are really excited about this latest development in Bangladesh,” said Tobias Grote- Beverborg. “We’ve been broadcasting to Bangladesh for more than 40 years and by producing a new television program in Bengali, we hope to be able to win over even more fans.”
DW will be broadcasting its first television series in Bangla, Onneshon. The program will cover science, technology, the environment and medicine and will be shown every Saturday at 6:30 pm as well as Sunday at 1:30 am and 3:30 pm on Ekushey TV.
Onneshon is being produced by DW’s Bengali team in Bonn and will cover all aspects of science and technology – with a special focus on the latest developments in Germany and Europe. It will be hosted by DW’s Debarati Guha.
In addition to presenting the latest scientific developments, DW reporters will also report on the different aspects of everyday life in Germany and comment on the sometimes surprising differences between Germany and the South Asia.
Multimedia content from the series will also be available online at www.dw.de as well as being distributed by DW’s online partners.
