Don’t use schoolchildren on streets in welcoming leaders: Ministry

The government has asked the authorities concerned to refrain from using the students of primary schools in queuing up on streets under hot sun for welcoming political leaders.

The Primary and Mass Education Ministry issued a circulation in this regard on Monday.

The circular said legal action will be taken against headmasters and managing committee members of the schools concerned if the order is violated.

It also said keeping schoolchildren standing on the streets under the scorching heat not only puts mental pressure on them but also hampers educational activities.

Contacted, Primary and Mass Education Secretary Kazi Akter confirmed UNB about the government order.

Meanwhile, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid on Monday urged all the educational institutions not to line up their students on both sides of the street for welcoming political leaders.

Recently, students of many educational institutions were queued up on the streets in different places to greet the new ministers of the Awami League government, drawing flak from various quarters.
