Dhaka fails to send housemaids to KSA

Several Saudi Arabian citizens have complained that they have not received their Bangladeshi housemaids despite waiting for months, Saudi Gazette reported on Sunday.

Quoting an industry source, the newspaper said with Ramadan only a few days away, Saudi sponsors were growing restless, waiting for their housemaids.
Saudi Gazette referred to an official source which blamed Bangladeshi authorities for violation of commitment.
Explaining the violation, the source reportedly said Dhaka used to demand that for every female Bangladeshi a male worker must be recruited as well.
“Saudis really need Bangladeshi housemaids only and this is why many Saudis objected to the condition, which led to a disagreement between the two countries,” the source was quoted to have said. “Now Saudis are facing problems again with Bangladeshi officials and recruitment offices.”
Saeed Maswi, member of the National Recruitment Committee, was quoted to have said that the ministry of labour clearly stated that the national recruitment offices are obliged to terminate the contract with foreign recruitment offices and refund clients.
The ministry has accredited 79 offices in Bangladesh as official recruitment agencies, according to the report.
It claimed that some Saudi citizens were forced to hire illegal Bangladeshi housemaids for a high salary.
