Rail communications between Chittagong and Mymensingh remained suspended since Saturday evening as the locomotive of a local train derailed at the outer-signal of Gouripur Railway Station.
Officer-in-charge of Mymensingh GRP thana Abdus Sattar said the engine of the Bhairab–bound train from Mymensingh went off the tracks while it was leaving the local railway station around 7.00pm.
However, there was no report of any casualty in the incident.
A relief train from Mymensingh rushed to the spot to salvage the locomotive, officials said.
