Construction of an international brand five-star hotel named “Hilton Dhaka” was formally begun at Gulshan in the city Wednesday.
Earlier, Hilton Worldwide signed a management agreement with Premier Hotels and Resorts of Premier Group to manage the hotel, to be situated at Gulshan Avenue, in September last year.
The 250-room Hilton Hotel is scheduled to be opened in 2015.
With establishment of the hotel, Bangladesh will see the first Hilton Hotels and Resorts Property, and Hilton Worldwide will enter into the country. Marking inauguration of the hotel’s construction, a Ground Breaking Ceremony was held in the city Wednesday.
Home Minister Muhiuddin Khan Alamgir was the chief guest while Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Muhammad Faruk Khan and US Ambassador in Dhaka Dan W Mozena were the special guests at the ceremony.
Alexander Dadak, Director of Development, Hilton Worldwide and Andrew Meier, Design and Project Director, SE Asia, also attended the ground breaking ceremony.
Dr HBM Iqbal, Chairman of Premier Group of Company, presided over the ceremony while Moin Iqbal, Managing Director of the Premier Group, was also present on the occasion.
