A police constable has died after being treated for 19 days for injuries sustained during a bomb attack in Dhaka.
Shamim Miah suffered burns and splinter injuries on Jan 17, when petrol bombs and handmade bombs were hurled at a bus carrying police personnel.
The attack left 13 police personnel injured.
The next day Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina went to visit the injured policemen and instructed the police chief to immediately arrest those responsible for the attack.
Incidents of bomb attack and arson on vehicles are being reported everyday across the country since Jan 5, when the BNP-sponsored transport blockade started.
Over 50 persons have died—mostly of burns in petrol bomb attack—in violence during the last one month.
On Tuesday, eight people were killed in Comilla when fire bombs hit a bus. On Jan 14, five passengers died in a bomb attack in Rangpur.
The police have already named BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia as the instigator in several cases of attack on vehicles.
