Branding the Ganoforum president as one of the masterminds of 1/11, Food Minister Quamrul Islam on Wednesday alleged the conspirators have got active again under Dr Kamal’s leadership to establish an undemocratic and illegal administration in the country to stop its progress.
“Conspiracies are all around. The masterminds of the 1/11 are now again active under Dr Kamal’s leadership. This evil force is trying to take the country to an undemocratic rule,” he said.
The minister also claimed that evil forces headed by Dr Kamal have forged an entente with BNP-Jamaat, militancy and ISI of Pakistan.
Quamrul, also a joint general secretary of Awami League’s Dhaka city unit, made the comments while addressing a discussion at the Jatiya Press Club organised by Bisaw Bangali Sammelan O South Asian Sahitya Sanskriti Parishad.
He also alleged that Dr Kamal and other conspirators of the 1/11, 2007 had tried to perpetuate the military rule.
Alleging that Dr Kamal, BNP and the defeated forces of the 1971 are now unified, the minister urged the all pro-liberation forces to get united to resist those who want to plunge the country into darkness and stop its progress.
The AL leader claimed that the state power could have been grabbed by an undemocratic regime and a constitutional crisis could have been created had the January-5 election not been held in the country.
He claimed Sheikh Hasina under her bold leadership has saved the country from a deep crisis and continued the democratic process thwarting all plots.
About the Supreme Court verdict commuting Jamaat leader Delwar Hossain Sayedee’s death penalty to imprisonment till death, he said the judiciary is totally free and there is no government interference in it.
“We’re lucky that we have been able to put the killers of 1971 on trial after the 43 years of independence. The trial of those committed crimes against humanity is our biggest achievement.”
